Embodied Self Enquiry

Sometimes being deeply listened to is where change begins

Sometimes something in us is asking to be heard and tended to - this may be a loss of direction or disconnection from yourself, you may be feeling resistance or that something is unresolved, perhaps life isn’t flowing as you would like or you have feelings related to dying or grief.

Whatever is asking for your attention, Embodied Self Enquiry is an invitation to slow down and turn towards the feelings - with gentleness, curiosity, and care.

So often we try to distract ourselves from difficult feelings or decisions, we try to push them away or to think our way through them, but by turning towards feelings with curiosity and compassion we can experience our inner world in a different way.  What tends to happen when feelings are met in this way, is that something shifts and we can experience a sense of greater ease and flow.

Drawing on somatic awareness, inner relationship focusing, and the art of deep listening, we work with what arises in both the body and mind, trusting that each holds its own wisdom.

A thread that runs quietly through all of this work is an openness to the spiritual dimension of our lives - not as something separate from the everyday, but as something woven into it. I see spirituality, not as a set of beliefs or definitions, but as an invitation to explore the living questions: where do you find the sacred in the ordinary? What nourishes that deep well inside you? How does the divine, however you understand it, make itself known in your life?  You need not consider yourself spiritual or religious for any of this to be relevant to you. But if these questions stir something, or if your spiritual life is something you have longed to explore more deeply, this is a space where that conversation is very welcome.

Inner relationship focusing is a gentle, body-centred practice, which helps develop self awareness and support emotional healing. It is an invitation to slow down and listen, not just to your thoughts, but to the felt sense in your body - to be with these feelings, with patience and open curiosity.
It helps create the conditions for a new relationship with the self - one rooted in: presence rather than avoidance, curiosity rather than judgement, compassion rather than criticism.

A note about the nature of this work

I bring considerable training and experience to this work, but I am not a registered counsellor or psychotherapist. Embodied Self Enquiry offers a space for reflection and exploration, rather than psychotherapy.

If what you are carrying would benefit from a deeper level of psychotherapeutic support, I will always encourage you to seek this and, where helpful, we can talk together about what kind of support might be appropriate.

Wondering if this is for you?

You don't need to arrive with the right words, or even a clear sense of what you need. Many people begin with a question, a feeling, or simply a sense that something wants attention. That's enough.

If you're wondering whether this work might be right for you, do get in touch and we can arrange an initial conversation. It’s a chance to ask questions, talk about what you're looking for, and get a sense of whether this feels like the right space for you.

“Grace has a rare ability to draw out your innermost feelings in a safe, trusted space. Over time, she has helped me move forward from intense grief and feelings of helplessness to a genuine appreciation for all that life can offer.”

“Grace listens so carefully and consistently, and she skilfully asks thoughtful questions, gently guiding my thoughts. In many ways, she is probably the only person who understands me properly. Grace has also taught me to give myself compassion and to open my heart again. I cannot thank her enough for the time, care, and support she has given me.”

“One of the greatest gifts Grace has given me is learning to be kinder to myself. She helps me quieten the noise in my head, slow down, and take a step back to become an observer, allowing me to find some of the answers I am searching for. Her approach is gentle and compassionate, while also encouraging me to discover and champion my own strength and understanding.”

The wisdom you seek is waiting within you
