Support Through Cancer

Much of my working life has been spent supporting people living with cancer. My background as a cancer nurse in both acute and palliative care, together with many years working in integrative cancer care, has shaped the way I work today. Whatever stage you find yourself at, I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can be met as a whole person, not simply as a patient or a diagnosis.

Cancer touches every part of our lives

Cancer rarely affects only the physical body. It can touch our sense of identity, our relationships, our confidence, our hopes for the future, our beliefs and values, and our relationship with life itself.

Alongside the appointments, treatments and practical decisions, there is often much that goes unspoken. Fear, uncertainty, grief, anger, gratitude, hope, exhaustion - sometimes all in the same day. There can be pressure to stay positive, to protect those around us, or simply to keep going.

This is a space where none of that is required.

You don't need to be brave here. You don't need to find the right words or hide how you're feeling. Together we make space for whatever is present, whether through gentle bodywork, quiet conversation, or a combination of both.

Bodywork during treatment

If you are receiving treatment, every session is adapted to what your body can safely receive that day. I work gently around surgical sites, ports and areas affected by radiotherapy, always respecting your body's changing needs and energy levels.

Many people find that nurturing, attentive touch helps them relax, ease physical discomfort and reconnect with a body that may feel unfamiliar or changed. Others find that alongside the bodywork, there is value in having space to reflect on what they are experiencing.

There is no right way to use our time together. We simply begin with where you are.

After treatment and living beyond cancer

For many people, the end of treatment is not the end of the journey. Recovery brings its own landscape - a body that may feel changed or unfamiliar, energy that has not fully returned, and the unexpected challenge of finding your place, your routine, your meaning again after months of appointments and treatment.

Some people come wanting to reconnect with their body that they no longer quite recognise. Others are carrying fear of recurrence, grief for what has been lost, or find themselves at a crossroads, beginning to ask new questions about what matters now and how they want to live.  Some are needing somewhere to make sense of all that has happened now that the immediate crisis has passed. Whether you finished treatment a few months ago or many years ago, there is value in having your experience heard, honoured and gently explored.

Living with advanced cancer

For some, cancer becomes something that is lived with rather than cured. This can bring an ongoing uncertainty as you find your way to live alongside treatment, changing health, and an unknown future. Alongside the physical realities, there may be practical decisions to make, difficult emotions to navigate, and questions about what matters most.

I offer a place where you don't have to carry those questions alone. Together we can make room for whatever is present - through bodywork, conversation, or sharing quiet moments of stillness.

Towards the end of life

If you are approaching the final stage of life, this is a space where you can slow down and be accompanied with gentleness, presence and care. Nurturing bodywork and quiet companionship can offer comfort, alongside conversation, reflection, or simply being together in silence.

If you are approaching the final stage of life, you may find yourself wanting different things at different times: the comfort of touch, someone to sit quietly alongside you, time to talk and reflect, or simply the reassurance of not having to face this part of life alone. Whatever feels most important, we begin there.

If there are things that require your attention, we can gently explore them together. These may include practical planning and making your wishes known, but also the emotional and spiritual questions that can arise as life draws towards its end. Together we can tend to whatever feels unfinished and important, in a way that feels manageable and true to you.

I also welcome partners, family members and those close to you, who may themselves need support, understanding and a place where they, too, can be heard.

Making Space For What You Need

There is no set way this work needs to look. We can shape our time around what feels most supportive for you, and this may change as your needs change.

Sessions can include gentle, nurturing bodywork, quiet companionship, conversation and embodied enquiry. Sometimes there may be a particular physical discomfort you would like to attend to; at other times, there may be emotions, questions or concerns that need space. Wherever you are in your experience with cancer, you may wish to look to future plans - this too is something we can do together and you can find more information about this here. Often all these things weave naturally together and we can gently move between them, without needing to decide in advance what each session should hold.

I usually work from my quiet and comfortable home practice. We can also work together online via Zoom when bodywork isn't needed or isn't practical. If you are nearby and getting to me isn't possible, I may be able to visit you at home.

Sessions, which last for about 1¼ hours are offered on a sliding scale of £50-65
If I visit you at home, there may be an additional charge for travel, which we can agree beforehand.

“Grace was like a Guardian Angel, sent to help our mum on her last day. She radiated compassion which was felt by us all. We were touched by the dignified way in which she cared for mum both before and after her death.”

“Flexible in her approach and an excellent listener, she has been guided by whatever my therapeutic needs have been at any given time. She is a pleasure to work with and a tremendous source of strength and support.”

“Thank you for being alongside me on my journey with, through and beyond cancer. You have helped me find my strength, supported me during the difficult times and nurtured my body with your caring, intuitive touch.”

Cancer may change the landscape of your life, but it need not define you. Together we can find your path to connection, meaning and living fully.
