Somatic Therapy
At its heart, what I offer is massage - and if you come to me with a stiff neck or an aching back, that is exactly what you will receive: skilled, attentive, genuinely therapeutic bodywork. In thirty years of practice I have come to understand that the body is rarely just a collection of physical symptoms, and that the most effective touch is as much about listening than doing. When the body feels truly listened to, it allows what has been held to begin its unfolding. This is collaborative work - at your pace, to your wishes. Everything is welcome; nothing is forced or imposed.
This work can meet you wherever you are - whether you come with a specific physical complaint, or with a quieter longing to inhabit yourself more fully. Both are equally valid reasons to be here.
So, what I offer goes beyond massage in any conventional sense - which is why I use the term somatic bodywork. Somatics is the practice of listening to the body from the inside, trusting that it holds its own intelligence, and that when we attend to it with care, it has much to tell us. This is the spirit in which I have approached bodywork throughout my thirty years of practice.
From a foundation of holistic massage, I have woven in elements of deep tissue massage, myofascial release, reflexology, shiatsu, breathwork, medical acupuncture, and energy work - a living palette that I draw on intuitively, session by session. Each session is shaped by who you are and what you are carrying that day - your physical, emotional, and energetic landscape - and what your body is quietly asking for.
What I am aiming for, in this work as in everything else I offer, is to meet you with presence and care, and to offer something that is integrated, intuitive, and meaningful. A space in which the body can soften, be tended to, and heal.
A Few Practicalities
Where we meet
Sessions take place in my dedicated therapy room at my home in Presteigne, on the Welsh borders. It’s a quiet, comfortable space where you can take time away from the demands of everyday life. There is parking available in my driveway. If you have any accessibility needs, please get in touch and we’ll discuss how I can best support you.
Length of sessions
Sessions last for approximately 1 hour 15 minutes
Fee
The fee is £55 per session payable by cash or bank transfer
What to wear
Wear whatever feels comfortable. I'll usually ask you to undress to your underwear, though working through clothing is always an option. You'll remain comfortably covered throughout - only the area being worked on is ever uncovered. We'll talk beforehand about what feels right for you.
Cancellation policy
If you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are generally charged at the full fee, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Wondering if this is for you?
You don't need to know exactly what you're looking for, or have the right words for what your body is carrying. Some people come with a specific ache, others with a quieter sense that something needs tending - either is enough to begin.
Please do contact me if you'd like to chat anything through, ask a question, or book a session.
