Our Agreement When Working Together
This agreement is intended to help us begin our work together with clarity and shared understanding. It outlines what you can expect from me, what I ask of you, and the practical arrangements that support our work.
Please take some time to read through it and let me know if you have any questions.
The Nature of the Work
My work draws on somatic awareness, embodied enquiry, mindfulness and spiritual companionship. Together we create a space for reflection, exploration and deep listening.
While this work can be therapeutic and supportive, it is not psychotherapy, counselling or medical treatment, and should not be considered a substitute for these services.
If, at any point, another form of support would better meet your needs, we will discuss this together.
Bodywork and Touch
Where sessions include bodywork, the way I work and what happens in a session will always be discussed and agreed beforehand. You are free to decline, pause or stop any aspect of the session at any time.
Confidentiality and Safeguarding
Everything we discuss is confidential.
As part of my commitment to ethical practice and ongoing professional development, I may occasionally discuss aspects of our work with my supervisor. If this happens, I will only share information that is relevant to the supervision process.
If I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person, or if there are safeguarding concerns relating to a child or vulnerable adult, I have a duty of care to take appropriate action. Wherever possible, I would discuss any concerns and the next steps with you first, which may include involving additional professional or safeguarding support.
Notes and records
I may keep brief notes relating to our sessions. These are stored securely and are only used to support the continuity and quality of our work together.
Fees
Details of session length and fees can be found on the relevant page of this site. Where I offer a sliding scale, I invite you to choose a fee that feels comfortable and manageable for your circumstances. I understand that circumstances change, so the amount you choose may vary from time to time.
Payment is due at the end of each session, by cash or bank transfer, unless otherwise agreed.
Where We Meet
Most of my work is done in person, at my home, but we can also meet online via Zoom or a similar platform. I recognise that there are times when travelling is not easy or appropriate - if this is the case I would be happy to discuss visiting you in your home if that would better support your needs.
Reviewing Our Work Together
From time to time we will review how our work together is unfolding and whether the frequency, focus and format continue to feel supportive to you.
Either of us may decide that it is time to pause or bring our work together to a close. Whilst there is no need to justify an ending, I ask, where possible, that we have a final session to reflect on the work we have done and bring our time together to a thoughtful ending.
Professional Background
I was a registered nurse for twenty years, holding a degree in Nursing alongside specialist courses in oncology. Alongside this clinical grounding, I trained as a massage therapist and reflexologist, and later as a Focusing Practitioner. I have also worked with various charities supporting people in crisis, including Cruse Bereavement Care as a Bereavement Support Worker. More recently, I was ordained as an Interfaith Minister
I am committed to ongoing supervision, and to both my professional and personal development. I also hold a strong spiritual practice of my own, which continues to support and inform this work.
All these threads - clinical, therapeutic, and spiritual - come together in how I work with individuals and groups: helping them to arrive at a deeper, more compassionate understanding of themselves.
I belong t the Register of OneSpirit Interfaith Ministers and am fully insured.
